YILDIRIM Acquires ROTAPORT

YILDIRIM GROUP continued its expansion in shipping and port operations with theacquisition of ROTAPORT.YILPORT HOLDING, a subsidiary of YILDIRIM GROUP, acquired 100% shares inROTAPort, which has been operating in Korfez, Kocaeli since 1995 and has the largest warehousing capacity in the region proving general grain and cement warehousing facilities.

YILDIRIM GROUP plans to invest a total amount of 200 million USD inrestructuring and addition of new eindustry and regional leader in liquid cargo and general warehousing.Located at a distance of 80 kms from Istanbul and 320 kms to Ankara, Rota Port boastsa discharge capacity of 15,000 tons/ day and has links to twdischarge stations. Depth at the main berth is 23 meters thus having thecapability to receive, panamax and larger sized vessels. There are six berthswith a total length of 880 meters.equipment to transform ROTAPort into antwo railway loading and ROTAPort is an ISPS approved port.

The warehouses in ROTAPort are LME (London Metal Exchange) approved and they alsocan be utilized in trade finance transactions. They serve a wide range of products suchas dry bulk, metals, liquid cargo as well as food and construction materials.The grain terminal has a total capacity of 100,000 tons and has a discharge capacity of15,000 tons/ day for free flowing materials and 7,500 tons/ day for non-free flowing. Thecement terminal has two grey cement silos of 10,000 tons each and a vertical, whitecement silo of 6.000 tons.

YILDIRIM’s mid-term plans include moving its shipyard, Marmara Shipyard,which is located next to the port to another location and increasing its totalarea to 150,000 m2 and the total handling capacity to 10 million tons.In accordance with its mission to be a top global port operator, YILDIRIM has beenconsistently investing in the sector and its brand name, YILPORT is now being identifiedas the most technologically advanced terminal operator with customer satisfaction in toppriority.After the acquisition, the name of the port will be changed to “YILPORT YARIMCA” andwill be transformed into the region’s leading general, liquid and bulk cargo handling portsin line with YILDIRIM and YILPORT HOLDING’s corporate vision and strategy.
